In this book the Serpent's Shadow Carter and Sadie are stuck in a dilemma. They are in an all out apocalypse and they are trying to fight chaos itself. Chaos in Egypt was the giant serpent Apophis who wants to eat the sun. They are trying to find out how to stop Apophis but don't know how. Luckily they can call upon the Egyptian gods for their support and power. Carter and Sadie are two good kids but are always getting thrown into trouble.
Carter is 15 and has already saved the world once, and killed countless demons. For a magician this is normal. Carter wishes he had his mother and father. His mom is dead and his dad merged soles with the death god Osiris. He used to be home schooled and he wishes he was still home schooled. Also he has to to save the world again and impress the girl of his dreams. Tough for Carter but not as bad as Sadie.
Sadie is a magician who calls for the power of Isis (that is illegal for other magicians who are scared of the gods) and is a very strong magician. She can turn a grown man into a gecko. Sadie has a crush on Walt a magician who only has a few years to live. Walt is dying. Not only that but her secret crush has been banned from seeing her. She also has the world to think about and worry about the gods dying.
This book was one of my favorites it has many people with problems. You really get to grow on the main characters. With them it made the book ten times better. The storyline was great and all around really good. I really liked how the characters stood out.
