In the book The Chronicles of Vladamir Tod, Vlad is very different from many people, because he is caught between two worlds. Vlad is a half-vampire and he is raised by a human nurse named Nelly. He has many similarities and differences to both species. Nelly was Vlad's mom's (who was human) best friend. Vlad's dad was a vampire. He broke the laws of the vampire and told the woman he loved that he was a vampire. Vlad's dad Tomas Tod was hiding from the rest of vampire kind to live and marry his mortal wife. Vlad's parents died when he was eight. Although Vlad feeds off blood, he never drinks from the "source" or humans. Vlad drinks from blood bags that Nelly brings him.
Vlad has a best friend named Henry who knows his secret ever since Vlad bit Henry when they were eight. Vlad goes to a school named Bathory High. Even though Vlad is half-vampire, Vlad still gets bullied a lot. Henry is popular and Vlad is always getting shoved into lockers. Vlad is very different to even vampires. No vampire has ever been born without transferring blood or biting but Vlad was born like regular people. Vlad is a living legend because there is a myth about a vampire who was born not made, and many people believe that Vlad is this person or the Pravus. Vlad is also very weird for a vampire because he will not feed off humans.
Vlad also has some similarities to regular people. He cares and doesn't look at people as food. He has regular teenage issues like overprotective parents and trouble with homework. He loves video games and likes to watch horror movies like me. Vlad has a lot of trouble with girls. He is in love with a girl named Meredith but is to afraid to tell her what he really is. Luckily, Henry can help and eventually Henry sets Vlad up with her.
This book is good for people who like to read a bout fairy tails. This is also good for people who relate to the character easily because Vlad's personality changes throughout the book. This book made me laugh and I hope it will make you laugh too.
