In a mysterious world two children and their mother are sent on a journey by their great grandfather to protect an amulet. This amulet contains amazing powers and abilities. The journey though is controlling the amulet. The amulet can take over and turn you into a monster. The children Emily and Navin become very wise on this journey.
Emily becomes wise because she becomes a stonekeeper although the job of keeping the stone is great she has to control it. The stone is very cunning since it has been on the earth for a very long time. Emily has to figure out how to become accomplices with the stone.
Navin on the other hand is the younger child. He becomes a strong figure in sense that he takes care of himself and others. He learns how to fight off evil monsters when these elves came to attack his "family" and he fights them off. Also he saves Emily when she fights another stonekeeper.
In conclusion, the kids have grown and become better thinkers and people. Emily is the best stonekeeper because she is young and can control the stone. Navin became a person who can care for others as well as himself.
